The Voice is one version, at least, in English that uses “Eternal” for God. I think someone has mentioned others. I forget.
Moffatt’s is one of the earliest English versions to use The Eternal.
For Isaiah 26:4, he has
“Always rely on the Eternal for the Eternal’s strength endures.”
The Voice has this:
“So trust in the Eternal One forever, for He is like a great Rock—strong, stable, trustworthy, and lasting.”
The JPS has this:
“Trust ye in the LORD for ever, for the LORD is GOD, an everlasting Rock.”
And here are listed several more that struggle in this verse with the very explicit notion of “eternal.”
Thank you. I thought you had mentioned some, but couldn’t remember.
