Ms. Rev. Grudem
Suzanne recently directed us to the Rev. Dr. Wayne Grudem’s latest book in which he declares “that women should have the same opportunities as men to hold jobs, to be educated, to be trained for careers.”
His granddaughter, Hannah, has said that she wants the same sort of job that his son Elliot Grudem has. Elliot is Hannah’s daddy.
Here’s the education, training, and job that Hannah’s father, Wayne’s son, has:
Elliot serves as the lead pastor for leadership development and church planting which means he helps Vintage Church develop leaders and plant churches. He spends much of his time working with pastors [all men] to become healthier, more integrated leaders that can sustain ministry for the long haul. He has served as director of the Acts29 Network and a pastor at Mars Hill Church (Seattle) and senior minister at Christ the King Presbyterian Church, a church he replanted in Raleigh…. Elliot holds degrees from Miami University (BA, History and English) and Reformed Theological Seminary (M.Div.).
Here’s what Hannah’s grandmother, Margaret Grudem, says Hannah says. This is from her interview with Mark Driscoll, Pastor, who also interviewed Wayne Grudem:
Margaret Grudem – Hannah’s five. She’s amazing.
Wayne Grudem – Yep. Remarkable. And she’s Acts29. Yep.
Mark Driscoll – Yep. She’s with [your son, her father,] Elliot, and I got to meet her at the house.
Margaret Grudem – She told Elliot she wants to be a pastor. He he he… [listen at 16:25]
Mark Driscoll – So we gotta talk to Grandpa about that. He he he…
Wayne Grudem – Well, really. He he he… She hasn’t quite figured that one out yet.
Wayne Grudem, Margaret Grudem, Mark Driscoll – He he he… ha ha ha… he he he… ha ha ha
Mark Driscoll – That is fantastic.
Could Hannah do the same thing that her daddy does? Can she ever be Ms. Rev. Grudem?
Here’s what her grandfather still emphasizes today (highlights added):
Sadly, it won’t take them long to crush Hannah’s dreams.
