Gal 3:28 – Is It Poetry, with a Political Purpose?

One of my facebook friends has made art out of the English phrases, “Galatians 3:28 / The Gospel.” That is, he’s taken these words and fashioned them into digital images that he’s used and uses for his fb profile pic. It’s sort of insider code, visual language for his friends familiar with English translations of this New Testament verse often quoted by egalitarian (or not so complementarian) Christians.

So I that got me interested in the words penned in Greek to fellow Jews and to Greeks in the Gaulish Roman province of “Asia minor” near modern day Turkey, called Galatia. How did it look to the diverse readership?

Here’s how that one bit appears as poetry.  Without our being insiders to the pure meaning of the long phrase, can we “hear” the repetitions and “see” the poetic negatings, the de-constructions, of categories and of labels and of hierarchies?  So were the words and the phrasing as such political?  What do you think?
